Sweat, weights and muscle......

Almost 3 weeks ago I started a challenge with a friend......called Muffin-topless Challenge.  I have been wanting to gain more endurance and muscle; what better way then to challenge yourself.  Monday I will be starting Part 2 of 3 and as I do I will be starting to make my own routine.  I have learned a lot of different work out stuff involving what things engage the entire body and how to get the most out of your work out, plus weight lifting has helped me feel strong and helping me get to where I want to be.   At work I have been busy helping people with their exercises and stretches; which strengthens their bodies to relieve the pain they feel.  Encouraging, pushing and finding new ways for them to work those weak muscles.....has made me interested in becoming a Personal Trainer.  One of my goals this Spring is to study for the Personal Trainer Test and become a Certified Trainer through ACSM(American Collage of Sports Medicine).

Here is a picture I took week 2 of Part 1.  I will post a picture of week 2 of Part 2.  If any of you are wanting to join the challenge let me know!

Health.......what that means to me.

Living a healthy life......can have so many different meanings to so many different people.  What it means to me is being active in our life choices.....meaning food, hobbies and our environment.  Yes, I know we can't control the gases we inhale.....but we can control what we put on and in our bodies and how we choose to be active in our lives.

FOOD:
Don't live to eat, Eat to live.  Our country is so focused on eating just to eat, craving this and that that the nutritional value part of food is almost nonexistent. Our goal is to eat more Fresh Food and less Fast Food filling our bodies with food that are easy to process thus giving every system in our bodies the nutrients it needs to work the way is was created to.  If we just focus on what we want or like instead of what we NEED our bodies will not be able to perform the way we need them to. As the years pass.....we will need medicine, supplements and surgeries to help fix our malnourished bodies.  I don't know about you but I don't want to have to take a cabinet full of supplements because I didn't take care of my body at a young age.  Less flavor the More we eat, More flavor the Less we eat. If you are lost.....it basically means.....you decide to eat processed food.....the more you are going to crave and eat it. You decide to eat fresh food.....with more flavor the less you need to be satisfied.  People always say moderation, moderation....but actually it should be moderation and portion.

ACTIVITES:
I recently joined a gym to help me stay active and healthy.  Working our at least 3 days a week with 2 days of Cardio and 1 day of Weight lifting.  Peter and I are also working on saving up to buy hiking, camping and snow gear.....so as the seasons change we can go and enjoy the outdoors.  There is nothing wrong with watching TV or reading a book but having that be the majority of what you do everyday isn't good for you.

ENVIRONMENT:
Since I don't have much control of a lot of the things we breath I can try to control what we put on our skin and clean my home with.  It isn't easy or cheap......but in the long run controlling what product I use to clean my house with, my clothes and my skin will also help my body work the right way. Our bodies are affected by what we eat, breath and apply so if I can help it work better by controlling 2 out of the 3 my body will thank me later down the road.

New Year, New Job and New Goals!!

I can't believe that it is the beginning of a whole new year!!  I have created a list of personal goals for this year and as a couple we have made a list of what we would like to accomplish this year.

Here are just a few that are on my list........

1. Read more books this year! (I have seen that over the years I have been watching more and more shows/movies taking time I could be reading books, being with God and my Husband; so this month I am slowing removing myself from shows and starting to make a list of books I would like to read this year.)   If you have any books you have read this past year or just favorites......Please share!!!

2. Become more active in being Active!  This month I joined a gym and have just ordered a 21-day cleanse from BeachBody(that Peter and I both will be starting next week).  My goals this year are to participate in a 5K run, maybe a Triathlon and maybe even this amazing 12mile obstacle course designed by British Special Forces in October(not sure I will be ready for that but we shall see).

3. Make more Memories!!  Peter and I have been so busy this almost first year here on the east coast with school and work that we haven't has time to go on adventures.  So our goal this year is to collect some camping and snow gear so that this next year we will use every day off driving and experiencing new places.  Since I have now graduated I will have more time to be more flexible with my time.

I can't believe it!!!  I have graduated!!  I am now a Certified Massage Therapist.....I need to finish some more paperwork but after that I will soon be able to call myself a Licensed Massage Therapist!   Work is awesome and for those that don't know I found an amazing job with Healthsource!  They are a Chiropractic/Rehabilitation Center that has 2 Chiropractors, 1 Acupuncturist, 1 Personal Trainer/Physical Therapist and 2 Massage Therapist.  Their drive to help and educate people on how to take better care of their bodies is awesome and just the place I want to be.  I am learning so much and can't wait to see what this new year has in stored for me.

Thanks for catching up on our lives and I am planning on keeping up with this blog throughout the year.   Love to you all and have a wonderful new year!!!!
